Junior Commercial Interior Designer

Seeking candidate with 2-4 years’ experience in commercial interior design with background in Tenant Improvement and Hospitality.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist project design team/ project manager on any/all phases of development including Pre-Design, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents and Construction Administration.  

  • Organize and maintain design library; manage Sales Reps/ Vendor visits

  • Assist with selection of appropriate FF&E products for review that capture the design intent as well as durability and pricing

  • Produce colorboards and presentation materials to Ocio standards

  • Contact vendors, order samples, collect and document pricing and lead times

  • Produce FF&E Specifications and finish schedules

  • Thorough and accurate at red line pick-ups in AutoCAD

  • Draw and tag finish plans and elevations

  • Produce basic sections and details of millwork and furniture

  • Produce door, hardware, plumbing, lighting and finish schedules

  • Assist with construction drawings and permitting process

  • Assist with construction administration, including the processing of submittals and shop drawings

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be proficient in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Photoshop, Powerpoint, Excel and Word

  • Proficient in FF&E documentation software (Spexx, etc.)

  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work efficiently; attention to detail

  • Basic knowledge of building codes, ADA, building standards

  • Ability to communicate design concepts and project information articulately and concisely to both the project team, vendors and the client

  • Know vendors, what they represent in products, where to find specific styles of flooring, tile, furniture, fabrics, lighting, wallcovering, etc.

  • Know operational and code needs: double rubs, fire code, stain guarding and ADA requirements

  • Contributes to and reinforces the “team effort” method of producing design projects

  • Pro-actively keeps design team/ project manager informed of work status and seeks clarification where appropriate
