2018 IIDA Fashion Show Best Haute Couture Awarded to

OCIO designgroup & Arcadia Furniture 

​The annual IIDA Haute Couture Fashion Show pays tribute to the talented San Diego interior design community. This year sixteen local design firms created garments made entirely of commercial interior design materials, and then strut their stuff on the catwalk of the PARQ nightclub. The 2018 competition, titled “Peace, Love & Gaudi," was an amalgamation of hippie fashion and design inspiration from the beloved Catalan architect Antonio Gaudi.

The design team from Ocio Design Group, with materials provided by Arcadia Furniture, drew inspiration from iconic women in music during the hippie revolution of the late 1960's like Janis Joplin and Stevie Nicks, and infused Gaudi-inspired colors, materials and forms. We constructed our Gaudi-turret helmet out of Arcadia samples, and the dress and coat was comprised solely of upholstery materials. The macramé adorning the dress was done with felt fabric. Our show-stopping guitar was originally a table leg fabricated at the Arcadia design facility.
