Commercial Interior Designer

Seeking candidate with 5-8 years’ experience in commercial interior design with background in Tenant Improvement and Hospitality.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with design team/ project manager on any/all phases of development including Pre-Design, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents and Construction Administration.  

  • Work with consultants, vendors and fabricators to meet overall project objectives

  • Selection of appropriate FF&E products that capture the design intent as well as durability and pricing

  • Produce colorboards and presentation materials to Ocio standards

  • Produce FF&E Specifications and finish schedules

  • Work with technical architect and project team to ensure design intent is accurately interpreted in documents

  • Assist in managing client expectations, team communication and consultant coordination

  • Collaboration with building and permit officials during permitting and construction phases of project, submit for permit as appropriate

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be proficient in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Photoshop, Powerpoint, Excel and Word

  • Proficient in FF&E documentation software (Spexx, etc.)

  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work efficiently; attention to detail

  • Basic knowledge of building codes, ADA, building standards and the ability to resolved with assistance, complex technical and design issues

  • Ability to communicate design concepts and project information articulately and concisely to both the project team, vendors and the client

  • Know vendors, what they represent in products, where to find specific styles of flooring, tile, furniture, fabrics, lighting, wallcovering, etc.

  • Know operational and code needs: double rubs, fire code, stain guarding and ADA requirements

  • Contributes to and reinforces the “team effort” method of producing design projects

  • Pro-actively keeps design team/ project manager informed of work status and seeks clarification where appropriate
